"INTEGRATING TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA INTO talk THERAPY WITH TEENS"

    Presenter: Nityda Coleman, LCSW, E-RYT

I will cover the “why” and "how" of adding elements of yoga, from philosophy, to meditation, to breathwork, and even physical yoga poses into talk therapy. Though I will use my work with teens as an example (I specialize in this population), all that is discussed applies to adult clients as well.

    Key Learning Points:

    1. What is yoga in this context?

    2. What are the benefits of yoga?

    3. Why would we integrate this into talk therapy?

    4. How can we integrate yoga into talk therapy?

    Additional Information about the Speaker:

I am a psychotherapist in private practice in West Lake Hills. I specialize in doing trauma work with teens. I am a senior level yoga teacher of 10 years (soon to be 11), certified at the E-RYT 500 level. I facilitate trauma-informed yoga teacher trainings for already certified yoga teachers, as well as those who are not certified but want to learn about this area. I also hold specialty trainings for mental health professionals, teaching clinicians how they can integrate elements of yoga into their talk therapy practices. I had a lovely conversation with Blake Norton today, who suggested I speak here. It would be a pleasure to do so!
